Head Chef appointed

Brian Moore, has joined the team at the South Sands to lead the team in the kitchen. An experienced chef, he has worked all around the world and his passion is fresh seafood. Brian was involved in the design process for the kitchen and restaurant in early 2009 and is looking forward to working in the brand new kitchen, designed to enable his team to prepare and cook the very best fresh food.

The hotel development project

From the appointment of the architects (Michael Phillips Architects) for the project in December 2008, the first initial remedial and construction works began on the development of the new South Sands Hotel at the end of January 2009. Initially it was hoped that part of the project might have been completed by late Summer but on such an ambititous development project it soon became clear that the construction phase would not be completed until early 2010.

Throughout the Summer months we have been grateful to both visitors and local residents for their patience and understanding as we have continued the development of the building. Salcombe is a very busy town in high Summer and at times our construction traffic has added to the delays.

From the very beginning of the project we been overwhelmed by the support and goodwill that we have received. We hope that the wonderful new hotel that is being created here on the beachfront at South Sands in Salcombe, Devon can be an asset to the community over the coming years.

We looking forward to welcoming you to our new hotel in 2010!
